Be organized, maximize your deductions, and ensure a smooth tax season.

Updated: March 2026

Preparing for your individual tax return doesn't have to be stressful. Being organised and having the right documents ready ensures that we can maximize your eligible deductions and process your return efficiently.

Before your appointment with the Loyal Bright team, please gather the following information and documents applicable to your situation:

1. Income Records

  • Income Statements / Payment Summaries (PAYG): You usually do not need to bring these as we can access them directly via the ATO portal once your employer finalises them.
  • Government Payments: Details of any pensions, allowances, or JobSeeker payments.
  • Investment Income: Bank interest, dividend statements from shares, or managed fund tax statements.
  • Rental Property Income: Statements from your real estate agent detailing rental income and expenses.
  • Foreign Income: Details of any income earned from overseas.

2. Work-Related Deductions

Note: You must have spent the money yourself, it must be directly related to earning your income, and you must have a record (receipts or logs) to prove it.

  • Vehicle & Travel Expenses: Logbook records (if applicable) and receipts for work-related travel (excluding travel from home to work).
  • Uniforms & Protective Clothing: Receipts for purchasing, repairing, or cleaning occupation-specific clothing or protective gear.
